Created in Spring of 2019, the Compassion Center for the Arts is a non-profit, performance and visual arts academy located in Downtown Bloomington, Illinois. We are located at 2nd Presbyterian Church and offer affordable programs in music, theatre, dance/movement, and arts/crafts. Our academy aims to educate, enrich, and mentor our wonderfully diverse community in McLean County. We are passionate about compassion and want to use creative arts to bring our lives together...appreciating and embracing all of our gifts and our differences.

Mission

The Compassion Center for the Arts will provide individual and small group instruction in the arts to the  surrounding community. The academy provides a safe, supportive, Christian environment with high-quality instruction with minimal or no tuition costs.  Scholarships will be provided for members of the community who qualify for school lunch programs. Our mission is to provide art enrichment opportunities for youth and adults, incorporating the four major areas of the Arts: Music, Dance/Mvmt, Arts/Crafts, and Theater. The Compassion Center for the Arts will additionally create a diverse, inclusive, safe environment where youth will have caring mentors who can help them grow spiritually, intellectually and emotionally.

Location

All classes and activities will take place at 2nd Presbyterian Church at 404 North Prairie St., Bloomington, IL 61701

During the 36 weeks of the year that public schools are in session, the CCA will operate from 11:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasionally, special workshops will require evening operation. Some special events will have Saturday and Sunday hours (to be determined).

Products and Services

Our service to the community is providing art enrichment opportunities that they may not otherwise receive. We will offer different fine arts camps throughout the summer, after school programs when public schools are in session, workshops and occasional evening and weekend events.
